Guatemala wins Miss Universe River Race
The Miss Universe contestants took part in a friendly competition held by the Atlantis resort: The Miss Universe River Race, which was held on Saturday Morning as a tension breaker before the Preliminary Competition on Sunday night.
The contestants were split into 4 groups: Red, Orange, Yellow and Blue. Each delegate was given a river tube and a custom-made wetsuit with their national flag.
The first five delegates in each group who made it to the end line first, would advance to the next round of competition.
In the end, the winner was Miss Guatemala, Lourdes Figueroa (Gold), followed by Miss Iceland, Ingibjorg Egilsdottir (Silver) and Miss Albania, Hasna Xhukici (Bronze). All three stepped into an olympic-like podium to receive their medals from Dayana Mendoza.

Panama wins Best National Costume
The Best National Costume Award was given this year to Miss Panama, Diana Broce, whose representation of the Panamanian “Diablo de Portobelo” turned out to be a hit among the panel of judges.
In 2nd place was the costume of Miss Nicaragua, Indiana Sanchez, and in 3rd place was Miss Thailand, Chutima Durongdej.
Although the Costume competition had been held last Monday at the Wyndham Theatre, the results were announced during Thursday’s Charity Auction.
This marks the third time Panama wins this award, the other times being 1986 and 2004.
