YG'z - Street Nigga (1993)

It was either this picture or...this one. Yeah, I picked right.

Here comes more golden age rap, courtesy of the YG'z. To my knowledge this is their only release. Hailing from Mt. Vernon (as well as many other artists), they were taken under the wing of legendary producer Pete Rock, who produces most of the EP (including the title track).

This is one of those forgotten gems from the golden age of rap, and certainly not one to be forgotten about. Pete Rock's at his best here, and the MC's are certainly on point. Stream and link below.

InI - Center of Attention

InI was a supergroup from the mid 1990's, comprised mainly of producer Pete Rock [although he's wasn't offiicial], Grap Luva, and Rob-O (whose Pete's younger brother). They worked together and created this album, Center of Attention, but unfortunately because of label issues and whatnot it was never released... Until 2003. When it finally saw the light of day, its become considered one of the Golden Age's best gems, with the help of the underground classic, "Fakin' Jax". Check the music video below.

Pete Rock is at his best, with his jazz and boom-bap inspired instrumentals here. Think of this of somewhat a golden age, east coast version of Hieroglyphics. You wanted Golden Age rap? This is it. I could honestly stream every song, but I highlighted a few, including one of my favorite beats of all-time, the title track. Check the link and streams below.
